The Grant Napear Show - September 26, 2012

Jason Ross filled in for Grant today as Grant is away at an NBA Broadcasting meeting, and Jason opened the show with more talk on the NFL's referee situation. Jason also touched on the San Francisco 49ers' away game against the New York Jets this week, the Oakland Raiders' acquisition of Andre Carter and the San Francisco Giants keeping Melky Cabrera off of the playoff roster.

NFL.com and NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks joined Jason today.

Brooks talked about the replacement referees, the blown call in Monday night's game, the rise of the NFC West, the upcoming matchup between Green Bay and New Orleans and his take on this season's early surprises.

MLB analyst and former pitcher John Smoltz was on the show with Jason as the season is coming to a close.

Smoltz talked about the playoff races in the NL and AL, the one-game wild card playoff, the San Francisco Giants leaving Melky Cabrera off of the playoff roster, the Giants' pitching staff, pitching in the playoffs and Chipper Jones' final season.

Oakland Raiders linebacker Philip Wheeler came on the show today.

Wheeler talked about the Raiders' first win this season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos this upcoming Sunday, what he'll be working on during the bye week and shared his thoughts on fellow teammate Miles Burris.

Bay Area sports columnist Monte Poole was the final guest on today's show.

Poole talked about the Raiders' defense, what Sunday's win did for Carson Palmer, the A's staying in the hunt for a playoff spot, the Giants' position on Melky Cabrera, the Giants' pitching rotation and the Golden State Warriors' roster being playoff caliber.
