A young woman was home alone when two burglars reportedly broke into the home through a back entrance. She called relatives who quickly responded and the burglars fled, but some time during the break-in a fire started in the back of the house.

One of the relatives reportedly tried to hold down one of the suspects, but he was able to get away.

The Stockton Fire Department responded and contained the fire to the back of the home but a fire spokesman said the damage was extensive, including destruction of a home theater system with a lot of plastics, causing a lot of black smoke.

An arson investigation revealed that the fire was started by the suspects as they were attempting to break into the home by using a gas torch to break through the door.
