Thieves Assault And Rob Elderly Modesto Man At Home

MODESTO (CBS13) - An elderly Modesto man is speaking out after surviving this terrifying ordeal.

"I feel violated," said George Kamille. "Because this never happened here before."

Violated may be an understatement. Seventy-eight-year-old Kamille, who uses a walker to get around, is the apparent victim of a brutal home invasion robbery

"Two guys came all of a sudden," said Kamille.

The extremely soft-spoken retired veterinarian says masked gunmen barged through his side door late Friday night.

"He said 'I'll kill you if you do anything wrong,'" said Kamille.

One of the suspects wore a ski mask, and the other had on a Spider-man mask.

"I was shocked it happened," said Kamille.

Despite his frail condition, Kamille says the duo proceeded to tape his hands and legs together. Bruises are now left behind. The robbers then ransacked the home, taking two TVs, two laptops, two rifles, and some pain pills.

Kamille thinks the men had been in the home before.

"Three guys stopped by and said 'oh we'll fix your roof,' one of them sat down with me. The other two were looking all over the house," said Kamille.

He thinks those supposed handymen were just casing the house, making sure he lived alone.

"It's very frightening, and we feel badly for George," said a neighbor.

Long-time neighbors are now fearful as well.

"It's kind of scary, you know. We keep our alarm on all the time now," said a neighbor.

Kamille he hopes the suspects are caught, and he's left perplexed as to how anyone could be so desperate.

"They are hungry, right around Christmas, but they can apply for a job. Lots of people will hire people nowadays," said Kamille.

He says the robbers also tried stealing his car, but it doesn't run.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
