Weekend Forecast: Valley Temperatures Steady In The 60s; Snow In The Foothills

Sunshine and light winds will help boost high temperatures into the mid 60s to kick off the weekend for the Sacramento area.

A small storm system brushes by the Sierra overnight, bringing clouds to much of northern California. The valley will stay dry and low temperatures will be a bit more moderate, dropping in the low 40s. The storm could bring a couple of inches of snow to the Sierra overnight.

Snow showers will begin above 5,000 feet after 10 p.m. Friday and could drop into the upper foothills between 3,000-4,000 feet by early Saturday morning. Not much accumulation is expected as the moisture will quickly move out of the area early Saturday.

We'll see gusty northwest winds of 10-20 mph around Sacramento with sunshine returning Saturday afternoon. High temperatures will be slightly cooler in the low 60s.

Sunshine and mid 60s are on tap for a quiet end to the weekend on Sunday.
