Former West Sacramento Police Officer Enters Plea In Rape Case

WOODLAND (CBS13) - The former West Sacramento police officer accused of raping women while on duty entered his pleas today.

Sergio Alvarez said he is not guilty. He is charged with 35 felony charges of sexually assaulting six women while patrolling West Sacramento on the graveyard shift.

Police say he attacked victims both in his patrol car and, in some cases, drove them to other places.

A five-month investigation began after a woman reported to another officer that she had been sexually assaulted by a uniformed policeman. The probe uncovered five other women making similar claims.

Alvarez is being held on $29.5 million bail following his arrest last week.

He's due back in court on March 22.
