SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a 7-year-old girl in south Sacramento.

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Cedric Holland at his home Thursday night and recovered the vehicle believed to be used during the attempted kidnapping.

On May 11, a girl and her mother were walking in the 5300 block of 47th Avenue when the Holland allegedly pulled alongside them in his vehicle, grabbed the girl and put her in the trunk of his car. The girl was able to open the trunk of the car and jump out as Holland started driving away. She sustained some minor scratches.

Investigators say evidence linking Holland to the crime was recovered from the scene.

They also say Holland had attempted unsuccessfully that morning to lure the girl out of an area business. Holland is being held on a kidnapping charge and his bail is set at $1 million.
