Sacramento SPCA's Annual Doggy Dash Draws Largest Crowd Ever

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The dogs were out at William Land Park Saturday for the Sacramento SPCA's annual Doggy Dash.

Despite the record heat, the event, celebrating its 20th anniversary, drew its largest crowd ever to raise money for SPCA programs and services.

With Saturday's high temperatures, organizers took precautionary steps to make sure man's best friend was able to stay cool.

"We have such things as swimming pools; we have 35 of them scattered around the facility with ice for the dogs," said Rick Johnson, Sacramento SPCA.

Unfortunately, coordinators still had to cancel the pug races due to the heat.
