SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A former employee charged for the murder of a parks superintendent in January 2012 has been convicted of first degree murder.

A jury convicted 49-year-old Dupree Barber for the murder of Steve Ebert, who was a maintenance supervisor for the Cordova Recreation and Park District.

Barber shot and killed Ebert in retaliation to losing his job with the park district.

Ebert was shot six times as he was pulling into Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova.

Barber faces life in prison without the possibility of parole, and will be sentenced on August 28.
