UPDATED: 800 Acres Of Thick Terrain Burning In Tahoe National Forest
TAHOE NATIONAL FOREST (CBS13) - About 800 acres are burning in a heavily forested area of Tahoe National Forest.
The American Fire started around 4:30 p.m. Saturday and is about 17 miles northeast of Foresthill on Deadwood Ridge. The large amount of smoke is making it difficult for fire officials to determine the exact amount of acreage burning. Access to the fire is limited due to the steep terrain.
Multiple engines, bulldozers, air tankers, and helicopters have responded to the scene.
