West Sacramento Man Builds 3,000-Flag Sept. 11 Memorial

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - This Wednesday marks the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11.

Since that day, John Vinson has found a way to express his emotions for his country with a flag tribute.

It started with 25 flags, and has grown to 400 American flags and 3000 small flags, which represent every victim who died in the tragedy.

With his tribute, he's hoping to teach others about patriotism.

"I remember how I felt that day, and I remember how I felt years later. So, I just try to keep the memory alive. You know, I really love this country and this is another way for me to give back a little," said Vinson.

This year, Vinson added a tribute to those hurt and killed in the Boston Marathon bombings.

The tribute can be found at the corner of Jefferson Boulevard and South River Road in West Sacramento.
