SF Bay Area Train Service Resumes After Gas Leak
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Service on a San Francisco Bay Area commuter train line resumed at its regularly scheduled time Monday morning after workers capped a gas leak, officials said.
Caltrain service was shut down in both directions after construction crews working on a Caltrain-related project broke a gas main in suburban San Bruno around 9 p.m. Sunday.
The leak was stopped before dawn, KGO-TV reported.
No injuries or evacuations were reported.
After train service was shut down, passengers at two stations were taken by bus to Millbrae to board a southbound train, while northbound passengers were able to board a Bay Area Rapid Transit train, officials said. Caltrain ended its normal service day a short time later.
The leak was about 4 miles from where a gas main exploded in a residential area in 2010, killing eight people and destroying 38 homes.
