Parents Call For Principal's Job After She Tells Grand Jury She Didn't Report Teacher Abuse

GROVELAND (CBS13) — Parents are calling for the an elementary school principal's job after she admitted in court that she didn't report allegations a teacher at her school was abusing children.

Tenaya Elementary Principal Susan Moffitt told a grand jury that she didn't call police after at least four allegations that teacher Darrell Golden was molesting children while she was working at Tracy's Triana Elementary School.

Parents at Tenaya say they won't stop until Moffett is removed for her job, because they feel their children are unsafe with a woman who can't be trusted.

"I was appalled and angry for the fact that there were all these children that she could have helped, and she didn't," said one parent.

A handful of parents showed up on Wednesday to demand her removal.

Big Oak Float-Groveland School Board members said they aren't treating Moffitt's case as a violation of the law.

"Given that there aren't proceedings alleging any violation of the reporting law, we are not going ot act as if there has been a violation of this law," said a board member.

While the board said they wouldn't be acting on her employment at Wednesday's meeting, parents say they won't stop until the principal is gone.
