17-Year-Old Girl Killed By Vehicle In South Sacramento Identified

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Authorities have identified the 17-year-old girl struck by a vehicle and killed in south Sacramento Wednesday night.

Police say the driver didn't see Ausha Holly as she was crossing Mack Road near Center Parkway around 7:30 p.m. The area doesn't have a crosswalk, and police say Holly reached the number two westbound lane, closest to the median, when she was hit.

According to witnesses, the driver was going below the speed limit. One of the witnesses was another driver who was about to pass when the driver of the vehicle involved slammed on the brakes and hit Holly in the street.

The driver witness was a nurse and administered first aid. However, Holly would later be pronounced dead at the hospital and died as a result of her injuries.

Police say neither speeding nor alcohol is believed to be a factor. They do not believe the driver will be cited.
