Police Release Identity Of Woman Hit And Killed By Truck In Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has released the identity of a woman who was hit and killed by a Comcast cable pickup truck Thursday night.

The Sacramento County Coroner says the woman is 33-year-old Tyesha Keola Shanks.

Shanks was walking on the center divider of Bradshaw Road, just south of the Oates Drive intersection, at around 7:40 p.m. when she attempted to cross all three lanes of southbound traffic and was hit by truck and killed instantly, according to the CHP.

The driver, 53-year-old Kenneth Palmer of Oakley continued to the next intersection, made a u-turn and returned to the scene. There, officers arrested Palmer on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Palmer is currently only facing the possibility of misdemeanor DUI charges. Investigators haven't said if he will face anything for the death of Shanks.

Comcast released a statement on Friday, saying, "We were heartsick to learn about this tragic accident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the pedestrian who was killed."

But Comcast refuses to answer any questions about its policies on employees drinking on the job, or while driving company vehicles.

There was no crosswalk where Shanks was attempting to cross.
