Body Of Excavator Operator Found After Fall From Barge On Decker Island
DECKER ISLAND, Calif. (CBS13) - Divers have recovered the body of man who was inside an excavator when it fell off of a barge on the Sacramento River near Decker Island.
At around 1 p.m., 41-year-old Richard Wayne Alexander of Pittsburg was in the cab of the excavator when it fell into the Sacramento River. Divers from the Coast Guard and from Sacramento County Sheriff's Department participated in the search for Alexander. His body was found at around 5:40 p.m.
Alexander was reportedly moving equipment for a Decker Island-based sand company when the incident happened.
