Man Steals Truck To Get To Court For Other Stolen Car Case

REDDING, Calif. (CBS Sacramento) - A man stole a truck so he could make it to court in time for his court hearing on an unrelated auto theft charge, reports the Redding Record Searchlight.

The victim told police he was working on his 1989 Ford Ranger when someone jumped in a drove away, according to the Redding police.

Officers located the truck with 21-year-old Michael Heller behind the wheel, say officials.

When asked why he took the truck, Heller told officers he needed a ride to court for a stolen vehicle case.

Heller was arrested on auto theft charges.
