Modesto High School Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With With Student

MODESTO (CBS13) - Modesto police have arrested a high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Police were notified of the alleged relationship Sunday after text messages between 28-year-old Jeremy Wood and the student were found on his cellphone. The phone was turned over to police and the teen victim was interviewed.

Wood was a substitute teacher at Beyer High School. Police say he befriended the victim when she was 16 years old.

Police arrested Wood near his residence for statutory rape. He is booked at Stanislaus County Jail.
