Sacramento Family Of 5 Escapes Fire Burning In Garage

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A family of five was sent scrambling from their South Sacramento home this morning because of a fire.

The incident happened around 3:40 a.m. on Kari Ann Circle.

The fire was isolated to the garage. The family of five that lives in the home was able to safely escape the flames, all thanks to working fire detectors.

"One thing that really saved our residents here was the fact they had smoke detectors; that's what woke them up, got them out of bed, and got them outside of the house." said Sacramento City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Edmiston.

Investigators say the fires do not appear to be related.
