Man Found Dead In Front Of In-N-Out Was Witness In Barbershop Murder Case

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Authorities confirm that the man found dead in a car next to the In-N-Out Burger in the Alta Arden area Tuesday was in witness in the Barbershop murder case.

However, Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesperson Lisa Bowman notes that the incident doesn't look to be related to the case.

"The homicide victim, Marquelle Jones, previously testified as a witness in the Barbershop case, but there is no indication that Marquelle's murder was any connection to the Barbershop case or conclusion," Bowman wrote in a statement.

In the 2010 incident, a 30-year-old mother Monique Nelson was killed while protecting her toddler from gunfire that erupted at a crowded South Sacramento barbershop. Two men were convicted of first-degree murder in the case.

Jones was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as the man killed in Tuesday's incident. Detectives are still investigating the incident and note that they have not identified a motive.
