Disbanding Police Activities League Could Bring Thousands To Ripon Recreation Department

RIPON (CBS13) — Thousands of dollars sitting for years in a closed-down bank account could finally be put to good use in Ripon.

The money once belonged to the Ripon Police Activities League. The group stopped operating five years ago during the recession and Leo Zuber has decided he's donating the leftover money to Ripon's recreation department.

It'll help get kids like 5-year-old Aiden Fraley on the field. The fees for some of the events can sometimes turn families away.

Michele DeYoung pays $170 for her boys to play in the city run league, but the $7,000 windfall for programs like soccer to help families who can't afford to pay fees.

The official vote to disband the group will happen next month and Zuber hopes the money will be donated to the city by the end of the year.
