Little Joe Loudmouth: The Time I Broke Up With My Girlfriend Over The Phone

Reports are that the Raiders fired Dennis Allen over the phone.  What an unprofessional thing to do that seems to fit the embarrassing Raider way.  But it got me thinking about the time I broke up with my girlfriend over the phone.  Well actually, I had my friend do it.

I was probably 18 or 19 years old at the time.  My friend Dustin and I were at a coffee shop in Roseville waiting to go see a movie.  The barista if you will, was very attractive and flirty and I was enjoying the attention, so I played along.  Meanwhile, my phone was blowing up and it was the girl I was dating.

The phone would NOT stop ringing, and it was interrupting my "game", so I handed the phone to my buddy Dustin and asked him to handle it.  The way Dustin went about handling this, was telling her that I was too busy talking to a prettier girl and that I was pretty much done with her.  That didn't go over well with her.

I received an extremely hateful voicemail from this young lady, and I couldn't blame her much.  She couldn't believe that I would have my friend break up with her over the phone, and in hindsight, she's right.  I'm also pretty sure this lead to my car getting keyed.  Either by the scorned ex, or by the barista who ended up hating me in the end as well, but either way...my car got keyed.

So long story longer, I got what I deserved.  I should never of been such a coward and should of handled my business with her, in person.  And that goes for the Raiders as well.  Dennis Allen wasn't working, agree.  But to fire him over the phone, please!  A franchise trying to change their image, this isn't a good look.  The Raiders should of had the courtesy to fire Allen in person.  I've learned my lesson, hopefully the Raiders do too.
