AUBURN (CBS13) — An Auburn community was thrown into chaos as the search for Marcelo Marquez stretched into the afternoon.
As the manhunt for the suspect was going on, Herb and Patsy Shrum had a sense the commotion was coming their way.
“We better just get prepared because something is coming our way we think and sure enough it did,” Patsy said.
They live off of Gold Street, just a few homes from Belmont Drive, where law enforcement was focused on finding the suspect.
Officers spent hours at the scene as neighbors wouldn’t allowed to leave or get into their homes.
As a retired officer, Herb knows all too well what it’s like to lose a comrade.
“I know what they’re going through; it’s pretty sad,” he said.
