Musicians + Sports: Florida Georgia Line On SEC Football And 'Anything Goes' Tailgate Party Concert

By Scott T. Sterling

Florida Georgia Line, meet the Florida-Georgia game.

At the start of this year's college football season, CBS Sports recruited country music superstars Florida Georgia Line to create a customized version of the band's song, "That's What's Up," to soundtrack games played in the high-powered Southeastern Conference (SEC).

"It was a huge opportunity for us, a huge honor," enthuses band member Tyler Hubbard during a recent interview with Radio.com. "They wanted us to do a song for it and shoot a little video piece they could edit and use different every week. It's pretty neat to turn on Saturday football and see that song mixed in with the highlights. It's just crazy to think that we're in that position. It's an honor to be a part of SEC and football and everything that's going on in that world."

The band's connection to the SEC will be further cemented this week when Florida Georgia Line tops the massive "Anything Goes Tailgate 2014" party at the Shipyards in Jacksonville, FL on Halloween Night (Oct. 31). The party is in honor of the Florida-Georgia football match-up that's scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1. The rivalry between the two squads dates back to the early 1900s, making it not only a big game,  but a huge social event that stretches far beyond what happens on the field.

"It's gonna be huge. We're so excited," Hubbard says of the band's participation in this year's festivities. "That's a historic game for us that we'd love to be at. Actually, I think we're actually going to stay around the next day, maybe do the coin toss, do some stuff at the game. So we're super excited. But bigger than that, we're pumped to just play a show and see all our fans and celebrate Halloween. It's going to be a huge party, we've been looking forward to it for a while."

While Hubbard's partner in Florida Georgia Line, Brian Kelley, is equally excited about being such an integrated part of the SEC football season and the big Florida-Georgia football game, his true allegiance is to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), specifically defending national champions, the Florida State Seminoles

"I'm a big ol' Florida State Seminoles fan," Kelley admits. "I've been going to games since I was a little kid, and went to school there for two years, played baseball. Yeah, I bleed garnet and gold. Big fan."
