Roseville Residents Can Exchange Holiday Lights For Free LED Strands

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Roseville residents can upgrade their holiday lights for free with a program offered by Roseville electric.

Those with Roseville Electric accounts can trade in up to three strands of incandescent lights for strands of LED lights. The old lights will be recycled, while the new lights are up to 90 percent more energy efficient.

Roseville Utility Exploration Center spokesman Brett Salmi says there are more advantages to the LED strands.

"If you have a natural Christmas tree, the LED bulbs are cool to the touch, so they won't dry out your tree," he said. "If a bulb burns out, the strand will stay lit. so you don't have to go hunting for that one burned-out bulb."

The program runs until there are no LED lights left. Customers can visit the center on Pleasant Grove Boulevard.
