Several Mountain Lion Sightings Reported In Roseville
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Police have received several reports recently of mountain lion sightings in Roseville.
According to Roseville Police Department spokesperson Dee Dee Gunther, since the first part of November police have received reports of four sightings. Two of the sightings were by the Kaiser Roseville Hospital, one was in Olympus Pointe area, and one was on a bike trail by Miner's Ravine.
So far, no officers have spotted the lion.
According to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, a person is 1,000 times more likely to be struck by lightning than they are to be attacked by a mountain lion.
The department says residents can reduce encounters with mountain lions by deer-proofing their property. Deer is mountain lions' primary source of food.
Removing dense vegetation from around homes and installing outdoor lighting will make it difficult for mountain lions to approach unseen.
