Fire Causes Extensive Damage To West Sacramento Home

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A fire caused extensive damage to a home in West Sacramento on Wednesday morning.

The fire began at 6:18 a.m. at the Oak Street home, just off Sacramento Avenue and one street east of Harbor Boulevard. Two sisters were living in the home at the time. A West Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson says the fire started when the cord from a space heater being used to heat pets caught fire and subsequently caught the wall on fire. The smoke alarm woke up the sisters, who tried to put the fire out themselves. When they couldn't, they called 911. Multiple fire crews were at the home four minutes later and put out the blaze.

Both of the sisters and their pets were able to get out of the home without injury.
