Illegal Fireworks Dispute Leads To Attack On Off-Duty Sheriff's Sergeant
SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) - A Sacramento County man was arrested and booked into jail overnight after he and a group of men allegedly attacked an off-duty Sacramento County sheriff's sergeant.
The altercation happened in the Gold River area of Sacramento County. The sergeant says the men were lighting illegal fireworks when one landed on his roof. He went out to where the men were, identified himself as an officer and asked them to stop. He was reportedly attacked by the men, but was able to get away with minor injuries.
Richard Owen Griffin, 42, was arrested on charges of resisting an executive officer and conspiracy charges.
Deputies have identified a searching for the second suspect who remains at large.
