Wind Topples Trees In Paradise, Killing 2

PARADISE, Calif. (AP) - Two people were killed by fallen trees in separate incidents following winds above 60 mph that have also toppled power lines.

The Oroville Mercury-Register reports Tuesday morning that one person was killed in a residential neighborhood in Paradise when a tree fell on the person's car. About 3 1/2 miles away, another person was killed after a tree fell into a home.

The names, genders and ages of those killed were not immediately released.

At least 7,000 PG&E customers are without power in the small town, which is about 14 miles outside of Chico, California.

The National Weather Service reports that the strong winds also toppled several other trees onto homes, streets, cars and power lines Tuesday morning.
