Seniors In Diamond Springs Held Hostage Inside Home

DIAMOND SPRINGS, Calif. CBS13) - Two El Dorado County seniors were taken to the hospital after they were reportedly held hostage in their own home for more than eight hours overnight.

An 80-year-old woman called El Dorado County's 911 center at 8:43 a.m. Wednesday in distress, claiming she and her 92-year-old husband were held hostage since before midnight Tuesday night, and said they were both injured and could not get up, according to a statement from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

The woman reportedly told dispatchers that deputies may have to force their way into her home. She then stopped talking and sounded like her breathing was labored.

When deputies arrived at the home in the 500 block of Arlette Lane in Diamond Springs, they found the woman and man with serious visible injuries. The couple were treated by paramedics and transported to Marshall Hospital.

The couple's grandchildren told CBS13 the victims had been shot, stabbed, beaten and locked in a bathroom, but say nothing was stolen from the home.

El Dorado County Sheriff's detectives and CSI Team investigated the incident.

The town of Diamond Springs is located about 43 miles east of Sacramento.
