Grant opened the show's third segment by discussing tonight's college football national championship between Oregon and Ohio State, Grant saying that if Oregon does not take advantage of this opportunity, it could be a long time until there is a trophy in Eugene. Also previewed was the coming weekend's conference championship games, the NFC title game between the Packers and Seahawks, the Colts and Patriots clashing for the AFC championship.
