Booby Trap, Drugs And Stash Of Guns Found At Convicted Felon's Home

NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) – A booby trap was among the discoveries made by deputies during a raid of a convicted felon's home Thursday.

According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, deputies served a search warrant to 54-year-old Daniel Meinke's 1900 block of Purdon Road home early Thursday morning. At the home, deputies found a stash of firearms, ammunition, marijuana cola and a butane honey oil lab.

Due to Meinke being a convicted felon, he is restricted from owning any firearms. Deputies also believe that some of the weapons are illegal to own by anyone in California.

The booby trap, believed to be a homemade explosive, was discovered in a tree on the property. Due to the discovery, deputies have called the Placer County bomb squad to the scene and have stopped their search for the time being.
