Pedophile Pediatrician? Merced Doctor Accused Of Hiding Camera In Patient Restroom

MERCED (CBS13) — A pediatrician is accused of putting a hidden camera in a patient restroom, and police say parents and their children may have been recorded.

His name is still on the front door, but pediatrician Carlos Teran Miranda is out of the office, booked on child pornography charges.

"I don't know, it just makes me feel sick to my stomach honestly," Dejeanae Pugh said.

Pugh was seen at the Merced clinic, part of Golden Valley Health Centers. Her son, too, although, she says not by Miranda.

"But I have nieces and nephews that come here so I don't know if they were seen by him or not, but it's just really it turns my stomach," she said.

The swift investigation started on Friday when cops say a woman using the unisex patient restroom noticed an odd flower arrangement on the back of the toilet. It was then that she discovered the camera the doctor allegedly hid.

Investigators served search warrants at the office and at his Merced home and arrested him on Tuesday for possession of child pornography as the pediatrician showed up at the place he's worked since 2013.

The woman who answered the door at the doctor's home says she's the nanny. Neighbors say the accused doctor is married with young kids.

Miranda was placed on administrative leave, and he was booked into Merced County Jail. Police are combing through the evidence they took from his home, but won't elaborate on what they've found.
