Search On For Man Suspected Of Attacking Mother

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A senior living community at a loss after a resident was violently attacked, allegedly by her own son.

"I thought it was terrible because you just don't do that with your parent," a neighbor said.

Police arrived at the Pacific Arms apartment complex Saturday to find an 86-year-old Eugene Francis unconscious, nearly beaten to death, and her apartment manager in a state of shock.

That manager agreed to talk to us through his screen door.

"Yeah, it's shocking. You go to help someone out and," he said.

The manager says Eugene's son knocked on his door, asking to be let into his mom's apartment to bring her food.

But he says the son had tied him up and stole his keys instead.

"He pulled me in and kept me there," he said.

He says the son told him to cooperate and went to his mom's bedroom, armed with a shotgun.

Reporter: "Did you hear the mom screaming for help?"

Manager: "I didn't hear anything. But I didn't expect to hear anything. He told me he killed her."

Police identify Eugene's son as Randy Francis. They say he has a long rap sheet.

"Who in their right mind would to go to their mother's apartment and assault her like he did?" Officer Joe Silva said.

Neighbors say Randy came to see his mom a lot – and it usually ended ugly.

"I didn't know why that was going on," a neighbor said.

The manager says Randy allegedly attacked his mom in retaliation.

"Because she kicked him out/put him out on the street," he said.

But he's now on the run, police say, in his manager's truck as Eugene's friend keeping praying for her.
