Vallejo Woman's Disappearance Being Investigated As Kidnapping For Ransom

VALLEJO, Calif. (CBS/AP) - Vallejo police are investigating the disappearance of a woman on Monday afternoon as an abduction for ransom.

Just before 2 p.m. on Monday, officers were notified by an unnamed 30-year-old man that 30-year-old Denise Huskins of Vallejo was forcibly abducted during the early morning hours of Monday morning from her home in the 500 block of Kirkland Avenue, said Vallejo Police Department spokesperson Lt. Kenny Park. He says the man who reported her abduction lives with Huskins, but Park stopped short of identifying their relationship because the man is not being considered a suspect.

Her white 2000 Toyota Camery was moved from her residence and left in an undisclosed location.

When asked about the whether police received a ransom demand, Park said, "I can't go into too much details about that, but that was the initial indication."

Police said Huskins' car was taken from her home and found at an undisclosed location.

Vallejo police have requested the assistance of the FBI, DOJ and search and rescue personnel from the Solano County Office of Emergency Services.

Although police do not have reason to suspect Huskins is near her residence, dozens of searchers are looking for traces of her on Mare Island, which is standard protocol in missing persons cases, Park says.

Huskins is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Vallejo police at (707) 648-4524.
