Alleged Peeping Tom Pleasures Himself On Woman's Porch; Why Didn't Police Take Report?

MARYSVILLE (CBS13) — A Marysville woman says she called police to report a man who was exposing himself on her front porch, but she says a report wasn't taken immediately by police.

The department says the officer should have taken a report immediately, and are using this opportunity to talk to their officers on how they talk to potential victims.

Dee Hansen showed CBS13 the video of the disturbing act caught on camera. The video shows a man who police identify as Alejandro Oliver Munoz, 22, walking by, then coming back to Hansen's porch. He talked to her while exposing himself and masturbating. Hansen says she couldn't see what he was doing and told him to leave immediately. Then she looked at the tape and called Marysville police.

"I showed them the video, told them what had happened, and he said, 'What would you like us to do?'" she said.

She says officers didn't seem to think it was a big deal, so she agreed not to file a report against her better judgment.

"I was appalled, but they're the police," she said. "What am I supposed to do, if I get an answer like that?"

Marysville Police Lt. Jason Garringer says the officer who spoke to Hansen may need to be retrained.

"It was a training error," he said. "The officer is a fairly new officer with the department."

He says the officer should have recognized the offense is serious. After Hansen contacted the media, officers soon followed up, arresting Oliver Munoz, an apparent repeat offender He was picked up twice for peeping in 2012 and has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
