Freight Train Hits, Kills Man In Car East Of Davis

YOLO COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities say a man inside a car was hit and killed by a freight train east of Davis late Tuesday night.

The scene was near County Roads 105 and 32A.

Francisco Castillo with Union Pacific says one of their locomotives crashed into an occupied car on the tracks around 11:50 p.m. It appears that the driver had gone around the crossing gate while the crossing arms were down.

The man inside the car died from his injuries. No one onboard the freight train was injured, Castillo said.

Train traffic resumed a little after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
