Sacramento Tech Professional Urges The Importance Of Networking

KaSandra Husar is a strategic intelligence officer for the Intel Corporation. Founded in Santa Clara, California in the late 1960s, Intel has grown into the largest semiconductor chip maker in the world. This may seem overwhelming to any non tech-oriented person, but as Husar explains, a company as large as Intel has many moving parts that require skills outside the technology realm. Husar works in the Sacramento office supporting the Silicon Valley giant, and as Careerbuilder forecasts, the tech industry will continue to grow by 23 percent this calendar year. Husar represents a portion of the technology market less often considered by job seekers.

What does your current job entail?

"I drive strategic intelligence for the HR Enterprise Services (HR Operations)."

What is your favorite part of your daily duties?

"I enjoy being able to work with people around the globe and engaging with industry peers to help the company understand trends so they can make the best decisions for the company. I like to say that my purpose and passion is to 'enable intelligent decision-making' for organizations and the 'art and science of intelligence' for decision making can be heavily dependent upon the differing perspectives of the people."

Do you feel your education prepared you for your current role?

"Absolutely. My M.B.A. was highly oriented toward international business and my focus is supply chain. My role is global in strategy."

Do you have any advice for people wanting to pursue a similar career?

"Get as much global perspective as possible, it's key to understand the cultural aspects of an individual you are interfacing with. If in college, do an exchange program. If working or in an intern capacity, take the overseas assignment. If local, take every opportunity to work with people in other countries. Reach out. Network, network, network!"
