Detectives: Body Found In Glenn County That Of Jadianna Larsen; Suspect Arrested

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Authorities say the body of a young girl found in Glenn County Friday is that of Jadianna Larsen.

Larsen, 6, had been reported missing late Thursday morning. She was reportedly last seen in her apartment at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Village on 47th Avenue at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

The mother's boyfriend, now identified as 25-year-old Sacramento man Juan Rivera, reportedly told authorities he had suffered some sort of medical emergency and passed out. He then woke up and reported Jadianna was missing.

However, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, detectives have reason to believe Rivera murdered Jadianna. Late Thursday morning, the body of a young girl was found burned in a field near County Road D and County Road 33 in Glenn County.

Saturday, Sacramento Sheriff's detectives announced the body was identified as Jadianna's.

Rivera was arrested and booked at Sacramento County Jail early Saturday morning. He is facing a charge of murder and is being held without bail.

Lisa Bowman with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says Jadianna's mother is not being looked at as a suspect in the case and has been cooperating with the investigation.

"The mother has had a legitimate reason for not being around," Bowman said.

Bowman notes that it is unclear where Jadianna died. The coroner's office report is still pending.

"We need to determine if this crime happened here in Sacramento. if the crime happened here, if the killing happened here, then that is obviously our jurisdiction. That we need to investigate," Bowman said.

Jadianna had reportedly been absent from school all week. Search teams from multiple agencies spent most of Friday searching for Jadianna.

An Amber Alert was never issued for Jadianna because her disappearance was not a confirmed kidnapping.
