Dangerous Sacramento Heat Forces Many To Seek Cooling Any Way They Can

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The heat was on throughout the Sacramento area on Tuesday, with even more hot weather still to come.

It wasn't easy for people in a fireworks booth to psych themselves up to be in a non-air conditioned fireworks booth for 13 hours on a triple-digit day.

"But for a worthy cause, we're out here braving the heat. and we're making the best of it," said Willie Hernandez.

All to raise money for their school, and to their surprise, the customers braved the heat, too.

"I think we probably made almost as much sales as we did yesterday, and it's only been half the day even though it's been hot," he said.

With no electricity, they got by with battery-powered fans that provided not a lot of cooling.

"The fantasy of the coolness that keeps us going here," he said.

In reality, temperatures got dangerously hot with temperatures easily rising over 100 degrees with many regions potentially closing in on 110 degrees on Wednesday.
