Evacuations Ordered Due To Quickly-Growing Fire Near Dutch Flat

NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) – Firefighters are at the scene of quickly-growing fire near Dutch Flat Saturday afternoon.

The scene is near Lowell Hill Road and Chicago Park Powerhouse Road in the Sleepy Hollow Creek area in both Placer and Nevada counties.

The fire has grown to 4,000 acres, Cal Fire says. Winds of about 17 mph are fanning the fire.

Cal Fire says evacuations have been ordered for Red Dog, Chalk Bluff, the northeastern part of Cascade Shores and You Bet in Nevada County. An evacuation advisory is going out for the northside of  Interstate 80 from Gold Run to Alta in Placer County.

An evacuation center is being set up at Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, officials say.

Chicago Park Powerhouse Road at Gold Run, Diggins Road to Alta and Lowell Hill Road at Highway 20 are closed due to the fire.

There has been no word on what possibly sparked the fire.
