Lodi Community Rallying Around Partially Paralyzed Dog

LODI (CBS13) - A little dog is inspiring a lot of love in Lodi. Snoopy, a miniature pinscher, who gets around with only his hind legs, was left recently at an animal shelter and now a community is rallying to get him some help.

"He basically pulls himself with his front feet," said Patricia Sherman, co-founder of Animal Friends Connection Humane Society.

Almost a month ago, Snoopy was dropped off at Animal Friends Connection Humane Society in Lodi.

"We'd been told he had been attacked by a neighbor's dog," said Sherman.

The shelter is unsure if that's what really happened though.

"He's so emotionally well adjusted. He moves around really well for the condition he is in," said Sherman.

The community is rallying around little Snoopy, donating money to get him a wheelchair and care for him.

"He's so darn cute. And he's a little guy," she said.

The vet says his spine has been severed, but people have noticed Snoopy's tail wagging.

"We think there is a little bit of hope and maybe this is normal for paralyzed dogs. We just don't know," she said.

They'd like to continue to raise money to send Snoopy to a specialist. In the meantime, he's not resting as he waits for his forever home.

"It shows how resilient some animals can be. It's amazing," said Sherman.

If you're interested in helping Snoopy, you can contact the Animal Friends Connection Humane Society at (209) 365-0535.
