Pit Bull Seriously Injured In Attack, Teen Arrested

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities say a man is facing animal cruelty charges after he attacked a young dog.

The incident happened Saturday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Deputies say they were called to the 4000 block of 43rd Street after someone reported that a man had seriously injured a dog.

Once at the scene, deputies found that an 8-month-old pit bull had suffered a puncture wound to its throat and a serious injury to one of its eyes.

Deputies believe the attack happened at a nearby park. Marquayous Hill, a 19-year-old Sacramento man, was identified as the person suspected of attacked the dog and was arrested at his home nearby. The weapon deputies believe he used in the attack was found at his home.

The dog has been taken into Sacramento County Animal Control custody and is being treated at a local shelter.
