Dry Ice Bombs Discovered At Roseville Middle School

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – Police say two homemade explosive devices were discovered at Eich Middle School Friday morning.

Roseville Police say the first device was discovered near campus by a custodian little after 6:30 a.m. It detonated, police say, but didn't injure the custodian.

Another device was soon found near some dumpsters at the school and was disabled by the bomb squad.

A thorough sweep of the campus was done and no more devices were found, police say. An extra police presence will remain at the school for the rest of the day.

Police originally characterized the devices as dry ice bombs.

According to the school's website, classes at Eich Middle School began Thursday, but the first period doesn't start until 9:05 a.m. Students who happened to be in the area were held back from entering the campus until the scene was cleared.

Anyone who may know who left the devices is asked to call detectives at (916) 774-5070.
