Madden 16: Raiders See Jump In Ratings

Another year, another brand new version of Madden made by the fine folks at EA Sports. With each new game, the intrigue is not for what new features the game will have, but what the player and team ratings will be.

This year has some new optimism for the Oakland Raiders.

After a 3-13 season with a rookie quarterback and a handful of injuries, the Raiders have been busy this offseason trying to put together a team that can climb out of the cellar of the NFL.

Madden gave the Raiders a 74 overall rating as a team for the game. While that seems low (the average is 80.6), it's a significant jump from the 72 it was ranked in Madden 15 and Madden 25 the past two seasons.

The worst part is the Raiders are ranked well below the rest of the AFC West. Kansas City and San Diego are given 82's, while the division-favorite Denver Broncos are at a solid 89 (fourth-highest behind the Packers, Patriots and Seahawks).

With an offense of Derek Carr (78 OVR), Michael Crabtree (82 OVR), Amari Cooper (82), and Marcel Reece (82) as standouts, the Raiders offense looks much scarier on paper.

The bright spot for the Raiders is Khalil Mack on defense. Rated an impressive 91 OVR, Mack is due for another productive season at the LOLB position.
