Kings Sign 'Bad Boy' Marshall Henderson
According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Sacramento Kings have signed former University of Mississippi guard Marshall Henderson to a make-good contract.
The contract essentially invites him to the team's training camp this summer, but does not guarantee him a spot on the roster. It's also likely he will land in the D-league for the Reno Bighorns if the Kings don't see a fit with him on the current roster.
Henderson spent his collegiate career being a "bad boy" sharp shooter for the Rebels. He has flipped off a crowd after a loss, taunted in the face of Auburn fans and he's been suspended for failing a drug test. That just in college.
Since his final year in school, he has spent time in Iraq, Qatar and Italy playing professional basketball, but has finally given the chance to break it in the NBA.
Henderson, despite his reputation as an instigator, has another role of a scorer. He averaged 19 points per game his last year at Ole Miss and has a knack for chucking up a lot of threes. With Jimmer Federette and Nik Stauskas leaving in the last few years, the Kings are lacking a sharp shooting guard off the bench - Henderson may be that guy along with the newly acquired Marco Belinelli.
His attitude and maturity is still in question, especially when there's an apparent "rift" in the locker room. The Kings are trying their best to increase team chemistry with Demarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondo and George Karl - adding in a young guy with a lot of swagger may not be what they are looking for.
