Report: Raiders Cut Trent Richardson

Well, after a quick experiment with former Colts running back Trent Richardson, the Oakland Raiders have decided to cut him, according to reports.

This is somewhat of a shock he was let go so early, as he is owed $600,000 for the next two years, but with such a deep running back group, it was clear he wouldn't come out on top anyway.

Just three seasons ago, Richardson was the No. 3 overall pick of the 2012 draft filled with potential as a future superstar of the NFL. Drafted by the Cleveland Browns, Richardson saw some success his rookie year, but quickly declined after that. The Colts traded away a first round pick to acquire his talents, but it was evident he was not the same player he once was.

Enter 2015, the Riaders sign him to a low-risk, high-reward situation if he somehow returned to his old form. Head coach Jack Del Rio said they would need him running like he did at Alabama during his college years for Richardson to stay on the team. After three weeks of preseason and several more weeks of training camp, Richardson never gained any traction in the RB competition.

Instead, the Raiders are left with 75 players, with Latavius Murray, Roy Helu Jr., Taiwan Jones and Michael Dyer at the running back spot.
