EL DORADO (CBS13) – A Union Mine High School student has been arrested on drug charges.
The 17-year-old was arrested by El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies and booked into the El Dorado County Juvenile Hall around 11 a.m. on charges of furnishing or providing narcotics to another student, according to a sheriff’s department statement.
Authorities said the charges are related to the two Union Mine High junior varsity football players who were injured on Friday.
Following Union High’s game with Foothills High, Nick Brown, collapsed while shaking hands with the opposing team. He underwent surgery to stop bleeding to his brain.
The other player, Justin Schwartz, was said to be watching the next football game in the stands when he started to lose consciousness and suffered a suffered a grade-three concussion. He was taken to the hospital and has since been released and is recovering at home.
