Forbes Ranks NFL Team Values: 49ers, Raiders Vary

Forbes released their annual NFL team net worth rankings and no big surprise: the Dallas Cowboys are number one.

The Cowboys surpassed the $4 billion mark, leap frogging Manchester United as the most valuable sports franchise in the world. Four. Billion. Dollars.

The San Francisco 49ers, on the other hand, upped their worth after their opening season at Levis Stadium - a venue that cost them $1.2 billion to build. This season, they are worth $2.7 billion after selling more tickets, more concession sales and more concerts and events hosted at  Levi's than they ever did at Candlestick Park. They were worth $1.6 billion last year, meaning they increase their worth by 69% - the biggest improvement in the NFL since last season.

The 49ers rank behind the Cowboys ($4 billion), New England Patriots ($3.2 billion), Washington Redskins ($2.85 billion) and New York Giants ($2.8 billion) as the fifth most richest NFL franchise.

The Oakland Raiders are a different story. Still without a new lucrative stadium, the Raiders remain in the bottom of the league in net worth. Ranked 31st, the Raiders are worth just $1.43 billion - $30 million ahead of the league-worst Buffalo Bills.
