New Reno USL Team Will Join Sacramento Republic In Soccer League

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Owners of Reno's minor league baseball team say they'll hold a contest to name the United Soccer League team that will begin playing at Aces Ballpark in 2017.

Gov. Brian Sandoval joined city officials at a ceremony at the Triple-A baseball stadium Wednesday where USL President Jake Edwards formally awarded the professional developmental league's 28th franchise to Aces owner Herb Simon.

USL CEO Alec Papadakis says Simon's experience as a commercial mall developer and owner of the NBA's Indiana Pacers will help promote the league affiliated with the US Soccer Federation.

Current USL teams are based in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Oregon; Sacramento, California; Arizona and New York.

Individual ticket prices will start at $25 for 15 home games from March to September.

The "Name the Team" contest is online at www.uslreno2017.com
