Police Identify Person Of Interest In Natomas Home Depot Shooting

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Police have identified a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a Sutter County man in a Natomas Home Depot parking lot earlier this week.

The shooting happened just after 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Truxel Road. Police say when they arrived at the store, they found 53-year-old Walter Michael Gibson of Rio Oso lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He later died. according to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department.

A male adult went to a San Francisco hospital requesting help with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Sacramento Police Department detectives went to the hospital Tuesday and interviewed the man.

The investigation remains active.

Sacramento Fire Department paramedics also came to the scene and tried to keep the man alive, but were unsuccessful.

Investigators think the shooting was intentional. They hope surveillance video from nearby businesses can help them identify the suspects.
